Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.

The journey of studying music has been a lifelong one for me. I grew up studying piano and violin from the age of five (and in some ways I started even earlier!). Learning and practicing music has been my training ground for developing focus, resilience, sensitivity, and determination. Along the way, I realized that it was easy to default to being motivated by external factors - a teacher, a competition, a checklist - but that it takes more intention and is more rewarding to be motivated from within.

Now, as a teacher, I model how to welcome the awkward feeling of being a beginner (even after playing an instrument for years!) in order to experience the joy and confidence that come from learning something new. Along the journey of learning an instrument, I anticipate each stage of development, stay curious about each student's strengths and desires, and help them break through to the next level. I bring a high level of technical skill into piano and violin lessons, and work with each student to give them a solid technical foundation no matter what level they are. I design lessons to help students observe and assess themselves and so, with time, become their own best teacher.

Students of all levels and ages will experience my core values of gentleness and empathy, which I believe to be more effective and sustainable than fear and pressure. For me, the art of musical expression is not about perfect performance, but developing the skills needed to share one’s authentic self.

I look forward to having a conversation about partnering for the next stage of your musical journey!
